The Malaysian National Computer Confederation (MNCC), is organizing  an evening talk on  ‘IT Governance and Control Framework for IT Professionals – COBIT ®' as part of the series of Evening Talks for the year 2005. Details of the evening talk are as follows:

Title:‘IT Governance and Control Framework for IT Professionals – COBIT ®'

Synopsis : This evening talk will highlight the following key themes:

  • IT Governance, IT Control Framework and COBIT ®

  • The COBIT ® components and their usage

  • Overview of COBIT ® Framework

  • Key Concepts of COBIT ® Framework

  • Highlighting the COBIT ® Management Guidelines

COBIT® refers to ‘Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology’and is a model Information Technology (IT) Governance tool that helps in understanding and managing the risks associated with Information and related Technology. COBIT® is designed and copyrighted by the ISACF and IT Governance Institute.

Speaker Profile

Ms Foo Mei Ling is the Director and Principal Trainer at Advent CGS Sdn Bhd, a specialist training, software and services solutions provider specialising in Risk Management, Risk-Based Audit and IT Governance. Her primary areas of engagement are in Strategic and Operational Risk Management and application of the COBIT Framework for risk management and IT Governance. Her clients includes the biggest development bank in Malaysia, the largest print and media company in this region, one of Singapore largest bank, a prestigious private hospital in Kuala Lumpur and the biggest healthcare group in Malaysia.

Mei Ling was formerly the head of financial application design and support for an international ERP software development house before founding Advent CGS. Prior to that, she was attached to one of the major public accounting firm. She is currently a Director with Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) Malaysian chapter, and a member of Malaysian National Computer Confederation (MNCC). She has extensive networking discussions and communications with risk management and IT Governance experts around the world including Australia, Ireland, The Netherlands, Singapore, UK and USA. This network has enabled Mei Ling to research and develop current thinking of risk management and IT Governance subject matters. In addition to an honours degree in Accounting and Economics, Mei Ling holds a Masters degree with Distinction in Business Information Technology.
