[ossig] NAS on a budget
Hi everyone,
I'm working on a project which requires archiving static data (html, images)
and having it accessible via the web 24/7.
Is anyone in Malaysia building custom NAS boxes for production, and tuned
towards working with Linux boxes?
Project assumptions:
* Data growth at 250GB per month
* Budget RM10/GB (assuming total cost of ownership)
* Data should be accessible via NFS
* Replication required, ideally real-time
* Automated failover would be ideal
We've looked at NAS products from NetApp, but this is beyond the budget atm.
Dell's Powervault 745n is a pinch with its pricing, but it's running poor
old Windows Storage Server, and seems to be flaky.
Any leads/tips/tricks would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
:P
