The Malaysian National Computer Confederation. (MNCC) is organizing an evening talk on 'Application Development on FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) platforms' as part of the series of Evening Talks planned for the year 2005. Details of the evening talk are as follows:
Title: Application Development on FOSS(Free and Open Source Software) platforms
Synopsis: For web application development as well as client-server and GUI based development, the free and open source software (FOSS) platform offers a complete set of powerful and robust cross platform development tools which tend to have a lower barrier of entry compared to proprietary platform alternatives.
FOSS platforms also tend to have amore active developer community which in turn results in more support, a more active community and more progress. The talk will focus on FOSS technology development platforms and tools as well as getting involved in the FOSS development community.

Speaker's Biodata: Mr. Ditesh Kumar is a user, developer and evangelist of the FOSS movement and platform. He has been developing on the FOSS platforms for several years and has been involved in the local community by writing FOSS software as well as speaking and participating in local FOSS events. He has a keen interest in building a FOSS developer community in Malaysia.(Mr.Kumar is also one of the developers for the Electronic Human Resources Management System Suite (e-HRMS Suite) software which won the Open Source Software Award under the recently concluded ICT Excellence Awards 2005).
